The Workforce Career Centers' Veteran's representatives assist employers in understanding tax credit incentives for hiring Veterans through The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). The WOTC is a Federal tax credit available to employers who hire and retain veterans and individuals from other eligible target groups. Find out more at www.doleta.gov.

 

The Workforce Career Centers' assist employers in understanding The Federal Bonding Program which provides Fidelity Bonds that guarantee honesty for "at-risk", hard-to-place job seekers. The bonds cover the first six months of employment. There is no cost to the job applicant or the employer.  Find out more at www.bonds4jobs.com.

 

Employer visits for assessing current and future workforce needs are conducted by business service staff. Referrals to workforce partner organizations and resources that can assist the employer with specific needs are often an outcome.

 

Rapid response meetings when notification of a plant closing or layoffs.

 

The business service coordinator and business service team provide presentations to groups on business services by request.

Unfortunately, our company was forced to close due to the loss of a big contract.  The staff from NCWorks Asheville came out to our layoff announcement and told all of our employees about the services that were available to them.  They graciously stayed most of the day until all of our questions were answered.

Being a small business owner and a veteran myself, I was very surprised at how many services are available to those people with a military background. I am in the process right now of hiring two veterans and I will be taking advantage of the WOTC.
